New England Newspapers Migrated to SBS in 2016
When a local group purchased The Berkshire Eagle and three other publication, the long-term strategy was to address the communities' desire for more local news. "Plans include improved editorial content and a variety of innovative additions," according to an industry publication.
One of those innovations was the addition of a drone to cover local news. "The drone offers readers a level of perspective we haven’t been able to provide them before,” said Kevin Moran, the Eagle's editor.
Hans Morris, one of the partners who purchased the paper, encouraged the news team to get the training and licensure necessary to operate a drone. The remote controlled low-altitude aircraft “offers an opportunity to have much more dramatic images,” Morris said in an interview with Editor & Publisher. “We also have large audiences here in the Berkshires during the summer, so I could envision some incredible shots of the crowd at Tanglewood on the lawn, or Wilco performing at MASS MoCA with the mountains as a backdrop.”
At SBS, we're really proud to share our customer's drive for continued innovation. And, happy to provide financial management software that lets them soar.
